Obituary of Anne Smith


Anne Smith (nee Cafarelli) of Yonkers died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at age 91. She was born on May 28, 1918 to Nicholas and Marie (Zaino) Cafarelli in Hastings, NY. She attended local schools in Yonkers and graduated from St. Joseph's Nursing School, where she later worked before raising her family. On January 27, 1947 she married Peter Smith in Tarrytown, he died in 1987. Anne was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and took up the collection at the 5PM Tower Mass. Mrs. Smith is survived by her three daughters Susan Rice of Yonkers, Anne Marie (Edward) Pugsley of Yonkers and Joan Smith of Yonkers. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Edward, Allison, Brian, Elizabeth Pugsley, Paul Rice and Vincent and Joanne Smith, and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Patrick and two sisters Camille Grossi and Rose Cafarelli. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, November 28th at 9:30AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
