Anne Marie 'Nan' Ruccia Head labor and delivery nurse at St. Michael's, cherished sister, aunt, and friend, 76 Anne Marie "Nan" Ruccia, 76, of Newark, N.J., passed away on Nov. 4, 2014, at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, N.J. A Funeral Mass will be offered today, Saturday, Nov. 8, at Holy Spirit Church, Union, at 10:30 a.m., with entombment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Newark, N.J. Visitation was yesterday at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. Nan was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and resided in Newark for most of her life. She graduated from Saint Mary of the Assumption High School, Elizabeth, in 1955. She attended St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Orange, N.J., where she graduated in 1958. Nan achieved her BSN from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J., in 1965. Nan was the head nurse of labor and delivery at St. Michael's Hospital, Newark, and an instructor at Seton Hall University. She also worked at Elizabeth General Medical Center, Children's Specialized Hospital, and at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield before her retirement in 2008. She was a member of the Forest Hill Field Club, Bloomfield, for over 50 years. Nan will be remembered for her love of dogs and as a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She suffered from metastatic colon cancer, and the family would like others to take action and get a colonoscopy, as it is a preventable illness. Nan was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Ruccia, M.D.; loving sister of Patricia M. O'Leary and her husband, Timothy N.; sister-in-law of Frank W. Fay; dear aunt of Patricia A. Fay Schmittler and her husband, Joseph A., Gary Ruccia, Donna R. Thompson, and Cheryl Iannarella. She is also survived by many great- nieces and great-nephews. Nan was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius P. and Mary E. Heffernan, and her sister, Eileen F. Fay.
