MADISON - Anne Marie (Violette) Goodwin, 89, beloved wife of the late Francis Hank Goodwin, passed away peacefully Oct. 31, 2005 at a Mount Desert Island health care facility after a long illness. Anne was born on Jan. 12, 1916 in Caribou, the daughter of Anthanase and Laura (Picard) Violette. The family later moved to Skowhegan where Anne graduated from Skowhegan High School. On Sept. 23, 1939 she married the love of her life. Hank always used to say, I found my million dollar baby in the five and ten cent store, as Anne had worked in F. W. Woolworth in Skowhegan a number of years before their marriage. Anne and Hank enjoyed 65 years of marriage. After marriage Anne was a homemaker for many years and was known for her skills as a seamstress. She entered and won many local sewing competitions. For many years she made all of her children's clothing and outstanding wardrobes for their dolls. She also spent many enjoyable hours crafting Christmas ornaments with her daughters. Anne was a wonderful cook, and her home was often filled with the aroma of her cooking. Later she worked a number of years for W. T. Grant and J.C. Penney in Skowhegan. She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine Theriault and her husband, Robert of Mount Desert, Laurie Dunlap and her husband, Gary of Standish, and Jane Theoharides and her husband, David of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Greg, Ellen, Jeremy, Mandy, and Carrie; two great-grandchildren Caitie and Taylor; and a sister Viola Morin of Skowhegan. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by sisters, Yvonne, Prudence, Lillian, and Sandy and brothers Fred and Ludger. She was a faithful member of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church and for many years was a daily communicant. She truly lived her faith and instilled in her children her strong Christian values. At Anne's request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church in Madison. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at the Parish Center following the funeral. Burial will be at 2 p.m., at Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
