Smith, Anne Marie Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Saskatoon City Hospital. Anne was born July 5, 1922 in Herceg Folvo, Hungary to Martin & Marie Bortis. She was predeceased by her husband, James Pope Leiper, son, Ronald James, parents and brothers, John (Noreen), Louis (Florence), Martin (Nellie), Joseph & Jim and sisters, Elizabeth (Mike), Maria, Helen, Ona, Mate & Julia and survived by her sister Teresa (Fred) Wansbrough. Anne attended school in Ben Loyal, Meskanaw. She met her husband James on a train en route to Halifax where he was leaving to serve in the Canadian Army in England. They married in Kinistino on February 14, 1944. They had three children, Diana Smith, Ronald Smith and Linda (Charles) Elder. They enjoyed 42 years of married life in Saskatoon where they raised their children and delighted in their grandchildren, Jason (Carolyn) Scarfe, Justin Scarfe, Eileen (Ashley) DeSchryver, Shanin Peckenpaugh (Chris Uhl), Nicole (Les) Doell, Jordan Elder, Kyal Elder, Kandi Elder and Bradley Elder as well as seven great-grandchildren. Anne had a zest for life. She was an avid gardener and an amazing cook. As a member of the St. Andrew's Women's League she served the Church and, for many years, held the esteemed title of "Tea Lady ".A celebration service of her life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 436 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
