->WATERVILLE -- Anne J. Karter, 95, of Leighton Street, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Oak Grove Living & Rehabilitation Center in Waterville.She was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Waterville, the daughter of Elias and Mary (Kassab) Karter.Anne was a Waterville High School graduate, class of 1930, and of Thomas Business College in 1932. During World War II, she worked in Hartford Conn., and later worked in the family businesses, Templeton & Crescent Hotels in Waterville as a bookkeeper. She also worked in California and Boston, as a bookkeeper and an accountant. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church and a member of its Maronite Guild in Waterville. She played basketball in high school and was a sports fan all her life. She enjoyed Red Sox baseball and the Patriots and had requested her nephews to keep score on the games.She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, Simon, Michael, Jibryne Karter Sr., Tekla Karter, Nancy Sturtevant, and Mary Joseph.She is survived by many nieces and nephews.At her request, there will be no public hours of visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, Front Street, Waterville, with the Rev. Larry Jensen officiating and the Rev. Mr. Peter Joseph assisting. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Joseph building fund, 3 Appleton St. Waterville, ME 04901.Arrangements are by Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
