Obituary of Anne H. Petterson


STOUGHTON Anne H. Petterson, of Stoughton, passed away October 1, 2009 at New England Sinai Hospital after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer. Born in Braintree, she was a daughter of the late Arthur A. and Harriet (Griffiths) Petterson. She graduated from Boston University, College of Liberal Arts and Simmons College, and was a member of Alpha Phi International Fraternity for Women. She was Director of the Stoughton Public Library for thirty-one years, and held a private pilot's license. She participated in skydiving, skiing and shooting sports. A longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Stoughton and the Stoughton Historical Society, she also served on the board of directors of the Stoughton Town Employees Credit Union. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur of Weymouth, and David of Wollaston. She leaves two nieces, Joanne Bernier and her husband Earl of Cherry Valley, MA and Susan McNamara of Hudson, FL. Also survived by triplet great-nieces; Abigail, Kaleigh and Meghan, all of Cherry Valley. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Graveside Services this Sunday, October 11th, at 1:30 p.m. in the Washington Street Cemetery, Rte. 53, Norwell.
