ALEXANDER, Anne Elaine (nee Balak) September 16, 1908 - July 16, 2010 Anne Alexander passed away peacefully at the Hillcrest Nursing Home at the age of 101 years. Anne is lovingly remembered by daughters, Marilyn Brown (Hugh), Judy Alexander (Chris Martin), Pat Samuel (Gordon), and Faye Lippitt (Greg); also four sisters; three brothers; as well as eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1982. Anne was the eldest child of Andrew and Pearl Balak, a Manitoba pioneer farm family of fifteen children, seven of whom have predeceased her. She moved to Calgary in 1932, where she met her future husband and was proud to have known suffragette Nellie McClung. Anne is remembered for her sweet, gentle nature and her unconditional love and generosity. Funeral Services will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church (1102 - 23 Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
