Annamary-Ellen Townsend, born in 1919, spouse of Vivian-Samuel Townsend, mother of Ava, Digna, Enid, Alcedie, Keven and Vincent, died on February 11, 2014. Please consult the obituary here:
Annamary Ellen Winrow Townsend, 94 of Deerfield Township, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her children. She was born one of five children on February 18th, 1919 to Florence and Henry Winrow in Salem County, New Jersey. Annamary enjoyed attending church and teaching Sunday school at Refuge Fire Baptized Church in Rosenhayn and later attended the Assembly of God in Bridgeton. For many years she donated her time to work with children in the 4-H Club and the Willing Workers Club. Annamary proved herself as a woman of strength throughout many phases of her work force career. To celebrate her lifetime accomplishments, she was inducted into the Cumberland County Black Hall of Fame in 2009. She worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company while meeting the demands of several side jobs through the years, such as cleaning houses to help with the demands of her house hold. After retiring from the workforce her most rewarding job was to take care of her late husband and children. She is pre-deceased by her husband Vivian Samuel Townsend and two daughters Ava Silda and Digna Townsend-Carter. She is survived by three sons Alcedie Townsend and his wife Mary of Millville, Keven Townsend and his wife Lorraine of Glassboro, Vincent Townsend and his wife Karlean of Glassboro; two daughters Enid Townsend-Stratton and her Husband Lamont of Vineland, Vinton Townsend of Rosenhayn; and one sister-in law Rita Bernard and her husband Anthony of Kingston, Jamaica W.I. She leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren, 30 grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, February 21st, 2014 at the Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton, NJ on Martin Luther King Drive. Viewing is from 9:00 to11:00 and funeral starts at 11:00am. The Internment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp.
