Obituary of Anna Smith


SMITH _ Anna Ida passed away peacefully in Saskatoon at Porteous Lodge on Thursday, February 26, 2004. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 1, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (East on 8th Street, turn right before the railway tracks) with Pastor Ward Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Walter; and daughter, Georgina (Svein) Skaalid; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Bill (Jean) Smith, grandchildren, Wayne (Brenda) Smith, Shelley (Rob) Suchan, Diane (Bob) Eder, Elaine (Ron) Rankin, Ron (Elaine) Skaalid and Glen Skaalid, 11 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Winnie MacNeill and Helen Lammers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was born at Wordsworth SK on April 7, 1907. Later moving to the Macrorie District where she met Walter and they were married on December 27, 1926. They farmed in the Macrorie District until 1953 when they moved to Saskatoon where she enjoyed her garden, flowers and needlework. Donations may be made in Anna's memory to Porteous Lodge (833 Avenue P North, Saskatoon SK S7L 2W5) or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church (1405 31st Street West, Saskatoon SK S7L 0R5) or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to David J. Schurr of HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME (477-4400).
