BALTIMORE -- Anna M. (Canas) Connell, 90, formerly of Lowell, died Sunday, Feb. 6, at St. Elizabeth Rehab and Nursing Center in Baltimore. She was the wife of Harry D. Connell, who died Nov. 21, 1974. She was born in Lowell, April 1, 1914, daughter of the late Peter and Eveline (Bourque) Canas. She attended Lowell schools Mrs. Connell was a communicant of St. Patrick Church while residing in Lowell. She was a weaver for several Lowell-area mills. Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan A. and Melvin Smith of Ellicott City; two grandsons, Jay Stamerro and his wife, Christy of Easton, and Julian Stamerro of Ellicott City; a granddaughter, Celia Stamerro of Laurel; two great-granddaughters Brittany Stamerro and Meghan Stamerro, both of Easton; two nieces, Lorraine Cadran of Nashua, N.H. and Patsy Bettencourt; and a nephew, Francis Bettencourt of Bedford, N.H. She was also the sister of the late Nicholas Canas, Lena Canas, Mary Bettencourt, Henry Canas and Charles Canas.
