Anna-Faye Jordan, born in 1921, spouse of Capt Jordan, daughter of Jesse and Anna-Doreta, mother of Fern', George, William, Robert and John, died on December 31, 2012 at 91 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
<!-- FH = Spilsbury -->Anna Faye Jordan, age 91, passed away on December 31, 2012 in St. George, Utah. She was born June 23, 1921 in Amalga, Utah the eighth child of eight children to Jesse Leonidus and Anna Doretta Funk Mortensen with her twin sister Emily Fern. When she was seven years old the family moved to North Hollywood, CA, then moved to Huntington Park, CA. She graduated in the Class of 1940 from Huntington Park High School. Shortly after graduating from high school World War II broke out. Faye and Fern both worked in jobs that sustained the war effort.Faye and Fern lived in Oakland, CA where Faye worked as an Army Air Force dispatcher.She married Burton E. Kitchen MD, a Navy Lt. Commander, on Nov. 12, 1945 in Reno, Nevada. After retirement from the Navy they lived in Eureka, CA for twenty years where he established his medical practice. They had no children. Burt passed away Nov. 15, 1972. Following his death Faye moved to Southern California where she worked as an Interior Designer in Mission Viejo, CA. She married Capt. Byron W. Jordan, US Coast Guard, Oct. 23, 1975 in Arlington, Virginia. They lived in Washington DC while Byron was still on active duty. After his retirement from the USCG they moved to La Jolla, CA, then Visalia, CA, and Bloomington Hills in St. George, UT then settling in Sun River.Faye checked daily on her twin sister, Fern, whom she loved dearly. Faye was a treasured aunt and a devoted stepmother. Faye and Fern very much enjoyed spending time together socializing, and traveling with siblings and their spouses. Faye enjoyed traveling, golfing, writing poetry and feathering her nest, decorating their home and surroundings. She was an excellent homemaker and social director. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Faye was a wonderful sister, and was organized, stylish and graceful. They both had a great sense of humor. She and her twin, Fern would 'shop 'til they dropped'.She is survived by her twin sister, Emily Fern Holswade of Alpine, New Jersey; and was surrogate mother to Fern's four children, George Steven, William Dana, Robert Jesse, and John Carl; her stepchildren, Jennifer Soucy, Kevin Jordan, Jacqueline Bynum, Maura Lynn Dolormente and Tim Jordan; along with a large extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Anna Doreta Mortensen; six of her eight siblings; first husband, Burton E. Kitchen, MD, and second husband, Capt. Byron Jordan.Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sun River Chapel, 4461 S. Country Club Dr., St. George, UT.
