Ann Thompson (Yakubik) Age 68 of South Ave. Horseheads passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sat. Sept. 21, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born Dec. 27, 1933 the daughter of the late John and Antionette (Meyers) Yakubik in Hazleton PA. Her surviving family includes her husband of 22 years, Charles F. Gray of Horseheads, Sons, Glenn G. (Bonnie Salisbury) Thompson of Elmira Heights, NY, Terry (Melinda) Thompson Elmira, NY, Jeff Gray of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren, Austin and Morgan Thompson, Kacey and Kami Gray; Brothers and sisters, Mary Piacente of Hazleton, PA, Susan Dixon of Horseheads, NY John (Gertrude) Yakubik of Hazleton, PA,Eleanor (Roy) Amspaugh of Horseheads, NY, Cathy Yalch of Hazleton, PA and Several nieces and nephews. Also predeceasing was a son, Charles Thompson in 1976 and brothers, Joseph Yakubik in 1994 and George Yakubik in 1942. Ann was a courageous fighter and wonderful wife, mother, and very proud grandmother. She was employed earlier in her nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in Reading PA. She later worked at the Bethany Retirement Center and for 14 years was a LPN level II at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Ann loved cooking baking and gentle times fishing with her husband. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 So. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. Sept. 25 from 5-8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thurs at 10:00 a.m. with committal services to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
