Ann M. Barrett, of Keowee Key, Salem, S.C., widow of Sylvester P. Barrett, joined the angels in Heaven on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital.She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Seneca and a homemaker.Born in 1917 at Olyphant, Pa., Mrs. Barrett was the daughter of the late Joseph Prestys and Cecelia Bilas Prestys Whengreen. She was the devoted and beloved mother and mother-in-law of Barbara and Arthur Hendra, Toms River, N.J., Maggie Griffin of the home, Carlin and Maureen Barrett, Howell, N.J., and Bill Griffin of Seneca. She was the doting grandmother of Diane Fritch of Bethel, Conn., Ken Hendra of Jersey City, Kip, Caitlin and Kevin Barrett of Howell, and loving great-grandmother to Jonathan and Tom Fritch. Mrs. Barrett is also survived by her siblings, Helen Christ of Narvon, Pa., Celia Whengreen, Nick Whengreen and Joseph Prestys of Carbondale, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Michael Prestys, John and Walter Whengreen.Mrs. Barrett moved to Keowee Key in 1994 from Tompkinsville, Pa., and was a member of the GREATS at Keowee Key. She will always be remembered for her devotion to God, love of family and pets, tending to her garden and for her caring ways towards others.A Memorial Mass celebrating Ann's life will be held at St. Paul's Church, Seneca on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. Seneca Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
