Andrew-Allard Fleury, born in 1927, spouse of Kathleen Glebe, father of Dale, Mark, Karen and Randy, died. Please consult the obituary here:
FLEURY Andrew Allard February 24th, 1927- June 15th, 2009 The patriarch of our family with family surrounding him left us to meet his Lord and Savior on June 15th 2009. Dad is survived by the love of his life, wife Kathleen (nee Glebe) of 51 years. Father to Randy, Karen, Mark (Suzanne), Dale (Jodi), (predeceased) Sherri, and Denise (Ben). He was a loving Papa to ten grandchildren Melissa, Kevin, Cameron, Ashley, Brittany, Emily, Daniel, Cody, Denver and Cassidy. Dad was born in Cochrane, Ontario on February 24th, 1927 to parents Marie Regina (nee Arel) of Quebec and Joseph, William Archille Fleury of Quebec. Dad was 2nd to last of twelve children born. The family came west and he grew up in Malardville, Coquitlam, then later in Port Moody, swimming across the Burrard inlet as a teenager. Dad married Mom on October 11th, 1958 in Bellingham, Washington. They lived and raised their children in Port Coquitlam. Dad served as a Merchant Marine working on oil tankers in the Second World War. When he returned, he worked for RivTow on tug boats hauling logs. Then Dad worked as a Mill Wright, Saw Filer and Supervisor for S&W Shake and Shingle Co. and Watkins Sawmill Ltd. in Ruskin. In the 80's, dad joined School District 43 and remained working there as a caretaker until retirement in 1992. Dad will be remembered fondly for his devotion to his family, one who could fix anything and was always lending a hand for anyone in need - and who can forget his sweet tooth. Our family would like to acknowledge the compassionate staff at Eagle Ridge Manor for incredible care and support they provided for Dad, Sherri and members of our family during these difficult years since Dad's stroke. We are forever grateful. A memorial service will be held on June 27th at 11:00am at Maple Ridge Alliance Church, 20399 Dewdney Trunk Road Maple Ridge, BC, V2X 3E2. In lieu of flowers please donate in memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
