Baker, Alyce D. WATERVLIET Alyce D'Avignon Baker, 71, died peacefully Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at home. Born in Black Brook, N.Y. on June 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Elsie Hanson D'Avignon. She was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker raising her family. Upon the death of her husband Walter in 1974, Alyce successfully raised her family as a single mom and reeducated herself and started her own business. She later moved to Fla. to run a business and to care for her mom before moving back to the Capital District 10 years ago. She was the wife of the late Walter G. Baker; beloved mother of Craig M. (Barbara Stroh) Baker of Watervliet, Suzanne (Eric) Manz of McKeesport, Pa., Barbara (Anthony) Ungarelli of Parrish, Fla. and the late Donna Childers; sister of Jeanne Kippen of Troy; loving grandmother of Jamie Bryant of Watervliet; and seven additional grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid's Church in Water-vliet. There are no calling hours.
