Obituary of Alvera-Rose Smith


April 29, 2003 Alvera Rose Smith, 76, formerly of 604 Kent St., Rome, NY passed away on April 29, 2003 with her loving family at her side. Alvera was born in Hyde Park, MA on January 20, 1927 the daughter of John R. and Rose Murphy Collucy. She lived in Oneida, NY and attended St. Patricks School. She married Frank L. Smith, Sr., on December 20, 1946 in Oneida, NY. He died on July 28, 1995. Alvera is survived by four daughters, Kathleen and James O'Rourke, Audrey and Michael O'Rourke, Rose Menter and her friend Nick, her son-in-law, William Menter, Mary Anne and Ronald Casadei, all of Rome; a son, Frank L. Smith, Jr., and Mary A. Smith of North Syracuse; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Anne Smith and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie O'Rourke; a sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut St. and at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central New York Parkinson's Support Group, Inc., 705 Ronald St., Herkimer, NY 13350 or the American Lung Association.
