WILLIAMS Alva Marie Williams, 93, of Jacksonville passed away June 26, 2008. Born on June 13, 1915 in Birmingham, AL. She was a valiant woman who overcame any obstacle that she faced. She never complained and persevered. Alva was the daughter of R.P. Beveridge and Elizabeth Beveridge. She graduated from Jones Valley High School in 1933 and attended Montevallo College. Alva worked 30 years for Birmingham Foods and upon retirement moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1977 to be with her family, and became a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne (George) Smith of Jacksonville, two grandchildren Charles G. Smith, New York City, NY and Dane Elizabeth Holman, Seattle, WA, two great grandchildren, James Clayton Holman and Haley Anne Holman, both of Seattle, WA. Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2008 between 5-7pm at Hardage- Giddens Mandarin Chapel. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakewood Presbyterian Church. The family expresses their gratitude to the Taylor Care Center for the love and care given to Alva.
