Alton Theodore Davis, 68, Venice, died May 4, 2006, at home. He was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Newark, N.J., and came to Venice one and one- half years ago from Santa Fe, N.M. He retired 13 years ago as senior vice president after 25 years at San Diego Gas and Electric Co. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and earned an MBA from Pepperdine University in California. He was a Navy veteran, who served from 1956 to 1967, including during the Vietnam War. He was a director of the Urban League and the Francis Parker School, both in San Diego. He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church of Venice and also Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Florida Keys. Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Wiley); sons Christopher W. of San Diego, Ted of Chicago and Sean Patrick of Reno, Nev.; and six granddaughters. A service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Church, 1971 Pinebrook Road, Venice, FL 34292. Burial will be private.
