Obituary of Alton-James Grimes


ALTON JAMES GRIMES 1936 - 2010 Alton James Grimes passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and friends on February 23, 2010. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Norma Kast Grimes, for 53 years. Alton was a life long resident of Molino. He retired from Monsanto after 37 years of service where he worked as an electrician. Alton loved his family and enjoyed his blueberry farm and his pecan orchard, he also enjoyed mullet fishing. He was a man who always put God and family first. In return his family loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. Alton was preceded in death by his brothers, Venis and Willis Grimes; his granddaughter, Laura "Sugarbear" Myrick; and his parents, Robert and Eva Grimes. Survivors include his wife, Norma Grimes; his children, Joyce Crutchfield (Ronnie), Gary Grimes (Jessica), Margaret Nall (Shelby); his grandchildren, April Glass (Adam), Eli Miller (Sarah), Richard Grimes, Eva Grimes and Linsey Myrick; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Victory Assembly of God Church on Highway 29, Molino with Rev. Ken Johnson and Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Interment will follow at Pugh's Chapel. Serving as pallbearers will be Eli Miller, Adam Glass, Shelby Nall, Ronnie Crutchfield, Craig Kast and Eddie Collinsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be all former Monsanto co-workers. The family will receive friends at Victory Assembly of God Church on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice and The Homestead Village Assisted Living Facility nurses and CNA?s for all their care. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.
