Alma Shipman Rivers Davis - Savannah - Alma Shipman Rivers Davis, 87 died Tuesday April 3, 2007 at Hospice Savannah. The Liberty County native graduated in the class of 1938 from Dorchester Academy Boarding School in Midway, GA. She then moved to Savannah to attend Georgia State Industrial College (now Savannah State University). She met and married Rufus Henry Rivers (deceased) in 1938 and to this union, three children were born; Rufus (deceased), Carolyn, and Charles (deceased). She later Married Joseph Marshall Davis (deceased) and to this union, one son was born: Victor Deforest Davis. She joined and was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church for the next 67 years. She was an emergency room nurse at Memorial Medical Center from which she retired in 1983. She is survived by two sisters; Albertha Cununings and Romena Smith of Hinesvitle, GA, one brother, Edward Shipman of New York City, New York, one daughter, Carolyn Rivers Williams of Savannah, GA, one daughter-in-law, Lillian C. Rivers (Rufus; deceased),one son, Victor Deforest Davis of Minot, ND, - grandchildren; Rhonda Rivers Ijames of Fayetteville, GA, Rufirs Henry Rivers 11 of Bethesda, MD, Joseph Orr of Fayetteville, GA, Jocelyn Leitzsey Reynolds of Marietta, GA, Mia. Williams-Davis of Stone Mountain, GA, Montague Maximilian Williams of Dixon, MO, and Victor Deforest Davis 11 of Chicago, IL. She also leaves six great grandchildren, and a host of neices , nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Brownsville Baptist Church, 1307 East 37th Street, Savannah, GA. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
