LEE, Allan H.October 9, 1930 - May 8, 2015Allan Lee passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the age of 84 years. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Diana and children Dennis (Debora) of Beaumont, AB, Karen Gain (Terry) of Campbellford, ON, Donald (Louise) of Peace River, Sandra Neis (Lyle) of Edmonton, and predeceased by his sister Laura.He will be remembered by his grandchildren Brian, Michael and Sarina Lee; Kristen, Laura and Kelsey Locklin; Ben, Arthur, Katherine (née Lee), and Gordon Lee; and Justin, Alyssa, and Lindsay Neis.Allan was born in Peterborough, ON, graduating from Queen''s University in 1952 as a Metallurgical Engineer. Having gained ten years of experience in the metal processing industry, Allan joined Sherritt Gordon Mines, Ltd. in 1962 at their Fort Saskatchewan, AB operation. He was instrumental in the commercial development of Sherritt''s pure nickel coinage strip and coin blanks and the later production of nickel-plated steel coin blanks. The development of bronze-plated nickel blanks for the Canadian dollar and the Netherlands five guilder coin was the highlight of his career at Sherritt.Allan and Diana shared their love of skiing, tennis, golf, canoeing, music and art with their children. In retirement, Allan learned to paint and enjoyed this hobby in his declining years.A celebration of Allan''s life will be held at the Howard & McBride Chapel of Chimes (10179-108 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 1L1) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015.
