Obituary of Alice-Mary Carter


HANCOCK - Alice Mary "Al" Carter, 77, died April 23, 2008, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Hancock, daughter of Archie and Geneva (Strout) Murphy. Alice worked for Britt's, Ames, Zayre's and Dunbar's Store for many years. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Aubrey; grandchildren, Steven Carter and Daniel Carter; great-granddaughter, Alexis Carter; sisters-in-law, Ida Woodworth and husband, Calvin, of Hancock, Ruth Sprague of Ells-worth, Joyce Vickery and husband, Robert, of Hallowell; brothers-in-law, Donald Carter and wife, Juanita, and Alfred Carter and wife, Hedi, both of Hancock; sister-in-law, Yvonne Carter of Hancock; niece, Becky; and nephews, Robert, Frank, Shane and Ronny. She was predeceased by sons, Bruce Carter and Dana Carter; bro-ther, Forest Murphy; sister-in-law, June Pierson; and brother-in-law, Vincent Carter. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock. At Alice's request, no flowers please, but gifts in her memory be made to Hancock Fire Department, care of Chris Holmes, P.O. Box 101, Hancock, ME 04640.
