Alice Mai Hamm Walker SPARTANBURG, SC-- Alice Mai Hamm Walker, widow of Thomas Blake Walker, died December 28, 2011. Mrs. Walker was born on March 29, 1912, in Portland, OR, to the late Dr. Benjamin Norman Hamm and Alice Moore Hamm. Formerly of Coral Gables, FL, and Highlands, NC, Mrs. Walker was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent. She attended the University of Miami and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Walker, a great cook, was happiest planning parties and entertaining friends. She was a loving mother and devoted wife who looked after the welfare of her family, a fine southern lady who lived a wonderful and full life. Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughter, Anne Delespine Walker Swensen and son-in-law, Dr. Frederick Cadwallader Swensen; four grandchildren, Frederick Christian Cadwallader Swensen and wife Melanie Dawn Morrow Swensen, Bryan Hillary Swensen of Spartanburg, Erica Jean Walker of Dallas, TX, and Kenneth Blake Walker and wife Lauren del Angeles of Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased in death by her son, Charles Blake Walker. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, today, December 30, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent officiated by Reverend Ned J. Edward Morris. A private entombment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Advent Foundation, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home of her daughter, Anne Swensen, and her son-in-law, Dr. Frederick Swensen.
