BUTLER _ (nee Buschlen) Alice Joan Died peacefully at the Rosedale Hospice Care Facility in Calgary on February 10, 2008. She was born October 14, 1935 in Owen Sound, Ontario. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Dale, her three daughters, Sandra Downey (Dean), Judy Campbell (Jamie), Jenni Butler (Paul Inkpen) and her brother Walter Buschlen of Parry Sound, Ontario. She is also remembered by her four grandchildren, Megan and Jason Downey, and Ashley and Sarah Campbell. Joan's life was dedicated to her family and friends. She graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario in 1957, returning this past September to celebrate her fifty year reunion with her nursing classmates. Upon retiring from her career in 1998 she discovered her wonderful artistic talents. In August of 2007 at an art show honouring Joan's work, two of her original art pieces were auctioned off, and Joan was very pleased to donate the money to the research being done at the prestigious Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Holy Nativity Anglican Church at 12707 Bonaventure Drive in S.E. Calgary on Thursday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre or the Rosedale Hospice Care Facility would be appreciated.
