ObituaryAlice Edith Walker, age 85, died Tuesday morning, December 3, 2002, at Maplewood Nursing Center. Alice was born in Lancaster, OH on January 2, 1917, to Thomas and Ida May (Nixon) Mayes. Alice was a graduate of Harding High School, Class of 1936. She was married for 62 years to Harley Dale Walker, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Bailey of Marion; grandchildren Lori and Dan Sorth of Westerville, Phil Bailey of Murrieta, California; Jay and Diane Bailey of Marion; great-grandchildren, Robin, Bryan, Carolyn, and Kayla Bailey; brother-in-law, Ralph Walker of Marion; many nieces and nephews; special friends, the Moore Family. There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be held at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2002, with Pastor Dan Wilch officiating. In keeping Alices's wishes, the family asks that instead of flowers, memorial contributions her in name be made to Hospice of Marion, or Timothy Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3004 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road, Marion, OH 43302. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Maplewood Nursing Center, DeWolfe House, and Hospice of Marion for their loving care of Alice.
