Alice C. (Stasko) Carterof BinghamtonAlice C. (Stasko) Carter, passed away Monday evening, April 17, 2006, at her home, after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicolaus and Frances Stasko; her brother and sisters-in-law, Steve and Florence Stashko; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Joseph (Red) Warrick, Eva and Michael Zakri, Patricia and Norm Tofte; and her brothers-in-law, John Solak and John Fian. She is survived by her loving husband, William G. Carter, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage; her children, Bradley and Judy Carter, Columbia, Tenn., Kathleen and Gary Ives, Greene, N.Y., James and Darlene Carter, Binghamton, Laura and Kenneth Hoff, Spokane, Wash., William D. and Lucinda Carter, Lititz, Pa., and David and Anne Carter, Binghamton; her grandchildren, Patrick and Diana Carter, Bradley and Kristen Carter, Kevin Ives, Jennifer and Robert Smith, William J. and Kimberly Carter, Kenneth and Karen Hugaboom, Christie and Peter Salvarlis, William Hoff and Erin, Theresa and Kelli Hoff, Marialice and George Xanthoudakis, Claire, Brittany and Hayley Carter, and Catherine and Kristen Carter; great-grandchildren, Grace, Quin, Korah, Bailey, Dustin, Brittany, Cassandra, Makayla, Kaleb, Robert, Andrew, Adrian, and Chase; her brothers and sisters, Josephine Solak, Helen and Larry Kilmer, Louise Fian, Thomas and Stella Stashko, and Loretta and Carmine Crescente; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Peggy Svolos; also several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends. She was a devoted member of St. James Church, Johnson City, having participated in CCD and the prayer group. She worked actively in the Pro-Life Movement and Birthright in recent years. Alice was a graduate of Johnson City High School and served proudly in the WAVES during WWII. She married the love of her life, William after the war and raised six children. She was an avid gardener and homemaker. She worked in the local apple orchards and with her husband in Carter's Catering. She was a good friend to many and touched many lives.Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, Friday at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at St. James Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Birthright, 435 Main St., Johnson City, N.Y. 13790 in Alice C. Carter's memory.
