Alice Baker, born in 1923, spouse of Jim Baker, daughter of Kuzma and Nastia, died on August 2, 1923.
Alice Susan Baker August 2, 1923 July 11, 2011 It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and great friend to all, Alice Baker, on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 3:15 p.m. at St. Paul's Hospital. Alice is lovingly remembered by her sisters Pauline Yee and Dorris Wiebe; her three sons: Ralph (Kathy), grandchildren Trevor (Heidi), Jason (Lorena), Casey (Erin), Jerrod (Marci), Becky and Jenny, and great grandchildren Kaytlyn, Cody, Rowan, Miller, Zackery, and Mikhayan; son Bob (Lisa), and grandson Jeremy; son Rick (Barb), granddaughters Ryshanna (Achilles), Cassandra (Sheldon), and greatgrandchildren Brooklynn and Justin; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, as well as many, many friends. Alice has joined her husband of 53 years, Jim, who passed away in 2003. She is also predeceased by her parents Kuzma and Nastia Perevseff, brother Pete, sister Ann, and grandson Clark. A member of the Doukhobor society, Alice was born in Saskatoon August 2, 1923 and raised in Blaine Lake. She moved back to Saskatoon in the late 1940's and worked as a waitress and hairdresser, and was mainly a homemaker, raising her family. Words cannot describe how wonderful she was. She loved to garden, knit, crochet, and make paper tole art. She was an avid swimmer and loved to exercise, even in her 80's. Alice was an avid card player (Kaiser and Cribbage), and was Top Bowler for the ladies league last winter. She was an excellent cook and brought joy to her family and all those around her with her pleasant personality. Alice was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 from 6pm to 9pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, followed by interment at Smithville Cemetery and then a lunch at the Edwards Family Centre. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to a Hospital of the donor's choice. E-mail condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
