FRANKFORT CARTER, ALICE ANN, 63, of Frankfort, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at Hospice of Louisville. Born June 2, 1943, in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alma (Jones) Carter. She graduated from Franklin County High School in 1962. Following her graduation from Franklin County High School in 1962, Alice attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Alice had a passion for Kentucky politics and her career reflected as much. Starting work as a legal secretary, she later worked for the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington DC. After returning to Kentucky, she then went on to become an assistant to Louisville Mayor Harvey Sloane. She then worked for the Kentucky General Assembly as an Assistant House Clerk. She then moved to the Legislative Research Commission where she worked with the Economic Development Committee, the Local Government Committee and was the Assistant Federal Block Grant Coordinator for the agency. She also was responsible for authoring thousands of resolutions throughout the year, commemorating the lives and achievements of countless Kentuckians. Her quick wit, strong political opinions and wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by two daughters, Heather Middleton Turns (Pat) of Louisville; Erin Downey of Lexington; and one son, Carter Downey of Louisville; two adoring grandchildren, Kate and Cap Turns, and her devoted dogs Buck and Belle. Services will be held at noon, Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1050 Leestown Road, Frankfort. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. noon that same day.
