Alfred J. Donovan, age 75, of Weymouth and Scituate Feb. 2, 2010. Father of Captain Mark Donovan of Scituate Fire Dept., John-Paul Donovan and his wife Lorene of Cumberland, ME, Gerard Donovan and his wife Cathy of Hockessin, DE, Julie Donovan and her companion Michael Rathbun of Scituate and Lt. Michael Donovan Cambridge Fire Dept. & his wife Christine of Milton. Brother of the late Paul T. Donovan, Lillian Neely, James P. Donovan and Robert J. Donovan. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the North Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home, 40 Sea St. (off Rt.3A-Bicknell Sq.), Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church at 11 oclock. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m.. Burial Bourne National Cemetery. Alfred retired in 1989 after 35 years as a training manager for former N.E.Telephone & AT&T. Mr. Donovan served as Chairman of the Personnel Board and Chairman of the Bargaining Committee for town of Scituate. He coached youth hockey and served as an asst. Boy Scout Master. Former president of the South Shore Mens Softball League and coached the Combs Shoe softball team. He was chairman of the Weymouth Veterans Council and Past Commander of Lt.
