McKenzie, Albert W.April 25, 1931 - January 5, 2011Albert W. "Spuds" McKenzie, of Sarasota died Jan. 5, 2011.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northminister Presbyterian Church, Sarasota. He was born in Chicago on April 25, 1931, and came to Sarasota in 1983. He was a lieutenant on the Chicago Police Dept., served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a Master Mason and past Potentate of Sahib Shrine in 1992 and on the Board of Governors at Shriners Hospital for Children for many years.He started the Order of Quetzalcoatl Teocalli #183 here in Sarasota and the Sahib Pipes and Drum Unit. In 1984 he was president of the Sahib Banjo Band. He was a member of MOAA of Sarasota.Survivors include his wife Eileen, of 57 years; a brother, Raymond R. (Carole) of Burlington, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Alex (Duke) Gilberts of Barrington Hills, Ill.; nephew, Scott D. Gilberts of Crystal Lake, Ill.; nephew, Sean and Kathy O'Hagan of Minooka, Ill.; nephew, Raymond (Rickey) McKenzie (Nan) of Garrett Park, Md.; niece, Carrie Procaccio (Robert) of Arlington Heights, Ill., niece, Cathy Marinez (Alfredo) of Burlington, Wis.; nephew, Ryan McKenzie (Claire) of Park Ridge, Ill.; niece, Colleen Koons (Mark) of Bartlett, Ill. All wonderful nieces and nephews!Donations may be made to the Racing Dog Rescue Project, Humane Society of Sarasota or Sahib Shrine Building Fund.
