He was born in Lowell on May 22, 1922, son of the late Joseph A.D. and Eva M. (Toupin) Roy. Mr. Roy served in the Navy during World War II.Prior to his retirement, Mr. Roy was a machinist for three decades with Artisan Industries in Waltham. Mr. Roy then became a caretaker at the Franco American School in Lowell, serving as keeper of the grotto shrine.Mr. Roy was a communicant and active parishioner with Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish in Lowell where he was a bingo worker, an altar server, and a member of the Holy Name Society and The Men's Club.He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with his dog, Rusty.He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne M. and Clarence F. Levesque, Lorraine M. and Ronald P. Freitas and Lillian M. and James E. Bernier, all of Lowell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger A. and Louise (Bellows) Roy of Hudson, N.H., and Paul A. and Penny (Giddings) Roy of Manchester, N.H.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lorraine Fauvel of Nashua,Theresa and Robert Benoit of Springfield, and Rita Roy of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. and Rachel N. (Hebert) Roy of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Denise Levesque-Bouchard and her husband Steven of Pelham, Robert Levesque of Lowell, Charlene Roy-Maniotis and her husband William and Christopher Roy, all of Hudson, N.H., Ryan, Kara and Glen Roy, all of Manchester, N.H., Keith Bernier and his fiancŽe MaryEllen McCarthy of Salisbury, and Nicole Bernier of Lowell; three great-grandchildren, Steven Bouchard Jr., and Evan Bouchard, both of Pelham, and Brayden Nobrega of Lowell. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.He was also the brother of the late Irene Beland, Doris Roy, Arthur, Raymond, Leo and David Roy.
