Flanagan, Agnes C.Agnes Catherine Flanagan of Fairfield entered into rest on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at her home. Born in Bridgeport, Agnes was a resident of Fairfield for many years. She was the daughter of the late Mary A. (Conroy) and Michael J. Flanagan. She graduated from St. Augustine Elementary School, Central High School in Bridgeport, and St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Agnes received her Master of Science and Sixth-Year Certificate at Fairfield University. She began her teaching career at Maplewood School in Bridgeport and then taught at Central High School. She served as the principal of Adult Education at Central High School and served as assistant principal of Central High School for thirty-eight years. Agnes was a parishioner at Assumption Church, where she served on the Lay Board for two terms. She was a member of the Bridgeport Education Association, Connecticut Education Association, and National Education Association, and the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield. In addition to her parents, Agnes was predeceased by brothers John M. Flanagan USAF, Bernard J. Flanagan, and sisters Margaret M. Flanagan, Irene F. Reynolds, and T. Dorothy Money, nephews Patrick J. Flanagan, John Paul Flanagan, and a grand-niece, Lauren Agnes Leonard. She is survived by her sister Marie F. Halstead of Bridgeport, brother James M. Flanagan of Fairfield, and brother-in-law Ralph J. Money Jr. of Bridgeport. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Joan Marie Halstead, Mary Ellen Halstead, Robert E. Halstead, Jr. (Joan), John M. Halstead (Deborah), Mark R. Halstead (Sharon), Elizabeth H. Keefe (James), Mary Diana (Dee) Flanagan (Thomas Harris), Michael J. Flanagan, Carol Salthouse (Roger), Sheila Agnes Flanagan, Lisa Garcia (Jaime), Brian B. Flanagan (Tara), Mary Money (Matthew Leonard), Ralph P. Money (Laura), Michael F. Money (Patricia), James J. Money (Ivana), Catherine E. Money, Ann Money Atkins, and Teresa McLaughlin (Dennis). She also leaves behind her cherished grandnieces and grandnephews: Matthew and Elizabeth Katherine Leonard, Noah, Francesca, Michael, William, Julia Rose, and James Joseph Money, Jr. , Jefferson, Theresa Dorothy, and Owen Atkins, and Haleigh, Brenna, and Catherine Ann Mc Laughlin, Conor, Catherine, Garrett, Jeremy, Amy, Emily, Bridget, Samuel, and Margaret-Agnes Halstead, Kevin Grant, Patrick, Robert and Bryan Keefe, Marianne Gray, Rebecca, Daniel, Michael and Michele Flanagan, Colleen Johnson, Laura Roberts, Ted Salthouse, Ian, Elyse, Patrick, and James Garcia, and Tanner Flanagan. She also leaves several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to caregivers, Liz and Grace, who lovingly and expertly cared for Agnes for the past seven years.A mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Agnes' cousin Rev. Msgr. Michael T. Flanagan will take place at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Stratfield Road, Fairfield, on Thursday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
