AGNES ANDERSON (nee Redick) September 7, 1918 - October 11, 2009 Passed away peacefully at the Ajax & Pickering Hospital in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Anderson (l9l6-2006) and 1oving mother to George, Susan Stensson and Nancy Tucker (Neil). Grandmother to Aimee (Jason), Michael (Lisa), Jennifer, Lisa (Gaby), Kelly, Kristy and Katie, and great-grandmother to Abbigail, Jack, Andee, Jacob, Charlotte and Charles. She was born in Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan, the youngest of 4 children of Stanley Redick and Sarah Mitchell, and graduated as a Registered Nurse from University Hospital, Saskatoon. She married her husband, Captain Douglas Anderson, at the Third Avenue United Church, Saskatoon, in 1941. She served overseas during WWII as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army Nursing Corps and worked in the hospital at Cliveden, Taplow, England at the estate of Lord and Lady Astor, caring for wounded soldiers brought back from the front. She returned to Canada with her husband, after the war and settled in Toronto, moving eventually to London, Montreal, Mississauga, Lake Simcoe and Whitby. Her fondest memories were of her many years in the Montreal suburb of Beaconsfield, Quebec, where her family grew up and where she had many friends and relatives. After Douglas retired as President of Reckitt and Colman Canada (now Reckitt Benckiser), the two of them. travelled around the world and settled into a long and enjoyable retirement in Canada and F1orida. Friends will be received at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (north of HWY. 2), 905-443-3376, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 12-1 p.m. She will be buried following a private graveside Ceremony in Whitby alongside her husband of more than 60 years. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Cancer Society is welcome.
