Agnes Akins Bishop, 95, passed away at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Indiana University Health West Hospital in Avon.Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Eastern Star, Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Purple Heart Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former Jackson County 4-H leader, Cub Scout leader, church organist and Sunday school teacher.Born April 20, 1916, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Walter and Mayme Schleutker Akins. On Aug. 27, 1939, in Seymour, she married Walter Bishop.Survivors include two children, Betty (Wayne) Bell-Jarrell, St. Louis, Mo., and Thomas (Henrietta) Bishop, Indianapolis; one grandson, Greg Bell; and one great-granddaughter, of St. Louis.She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Herman Akins and Clayton Akins.Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home and Crematory, Crothersville.
