CARTER, ANNIE WODDAIL - April 27, 1914 - June 9, 2014. Our dear Annie has exchanged mortality for immortality through Jesus Christ. Death is swallowed up in victory! Annie was raised in Lumpkin, Georgia. She worked in the shipyards during WWII in Panama City, Florida. Annie retired from Sears where she worked as an auditor. Annie was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia before moving to Knoxville 10 years ago. She began walking 3-5 miles a day after age 65 winning several competitions in her age group. Annie was active in the Order of the Eastern Star--a Freemasonry-related fraternal organization open to both men and women. She enjoyed her family and being the matriarch of 5 generations of women! Annie celebrated her 100th birthday with a party held last month at Lakewood Assisted Living in Loudon, Tennessee. Those gone on before her are her parents, Charles Reaves Woddail and Effie Whittaker Woddail; brothers, Joe (Mo) and Charlie (Nell); son, Sam Carter and son-in-law Jimmy Amerson. Looking forward to a great reunion someday are her daughter, Betty C. Amerson, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Joyce B. Carter of Alabama; her grandchildren, Joy Parrott (Kirk), Mike Amerson (Karen), John Amerson (Rena), Sammie Carter (Angela), Tim Carter (Dotsy), and Rob Carter (Keely); 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at North Side Cemetery in Lumpkin, Georgia for graveside services.
