Annie Pearl WalkerPickering Johnson Annie Pearl Walker Johnsonage 91, a life long resident ofPlantersville passed away onThursday February 11, 2010 atBibb Medical Center with herchildren by her side. Funeralservices will be held on Monday February 15, 2010 in theChapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.William Short and Rev. GlennWalker officiating and burialfollowing at Plantersville Christian Cemetery. She was born on November12, 1918, the daughter of thelate Roscoe Earnest and KatieWalker and the second ofeight children. In 1938 shemarried A.M. (Dick) Pickeringof Plantersville, and togetherthey raised their five daughters and her stepson. After Mr.Pickering's death in 1961, shemarried Wallace Johnson ofSelma, AL. Mrs. Johnson wasa loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,sister, aunt and friend. Herhome was always open tofamily and friends. She hadnieces, nephews and friendsof her children who spentmuch time in her home andmany considered her theirsecond mother. She was affectionately called ""Nanny""by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-granddaughter, and many oftheir friends. Special nieces,Margaret Alois Pickering, KayWalker Wilkes, special nephews, Donnie Walker, Lee Conant, Pat Conant, the lateJames Allen Cale, and herdaughter's friends, KatherineGarrison Rotker and FrancesHerrod Nelson were like herown children and spentmany happy days with herand her family. She enjoyedcooking and was known forher homemade biscuits. Shealso enjoyed working in hergarden raising vegetablesevery year including this pastsummer. She was a loving,strong and determined person and will greatly bemissed by family and friends. She was preceded in deathby her first husband, A.M.(Dick) Pickering, her secondhusband, Wallace Johnson,daughter, Doris PickeringDeason, granddaughter,Connie Deason Casali, son-in-law, Billy Wheatley, sisterand brother-in-law, Lela andWade Ousley, brothers, J.W.""Buddy"" Walker, Earl Walker,Willie Walker, and EarnestWalker, nephew, James AllenCale, and life long friend,Ann Moore Bruner.
