Obituary of Annie-Belle Johnson


IN MEMORY OF MRS. ANNIE B. JOHNSON Mrs. Annie Belle Johnson, formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away December 27, 2001 in Los Angeles, California. She was 101 years old. Mrs. Johnson was the oldest of six children born to Mose and Sarah Smith of Greenville, Alabama. In 1923, Mrs. Johnson married Nathaniel Johnson. They moved to Montgomery and raised six children: Elvyn Frank, Leo, Geraldine, Dazireen, Lucius and Katie Pearl Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was an elementary school teacher but stopped teaching to care for her growing family. After her children grew up and finished school, Mrs. Johnson became active in church and community activities. She was a member of DAY STREET BAPTIST CHURCh for OVER FIFTY (50) YEARS. She was Pianist and Organist there for many years. Mrs. Johnson organized CHOIR NO. 2, was Pianist for the Church, the Adult Sunday School, and the B.T.U. She was also the church's Organist. She LOVED MUSIC. Mrs. Johnson helped also with the music at Holt Street Baptist Church's Nursery School during the tenure of Rev. and Mrs. A.W. Wilson. She was also called to play music for Lee's, Phillip Riley's and Cummings' Mortuaries. Mrs. Johnson was loved and respected by all who knew her. She is survived by three daughters: Geraldine Johnson Burke, Dazireen Johnson Moore and Katie Johnson Kaufman; three granddaughters; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
