Obituary of Anne-Julia Adams


ADAMS, Mrs. Anne Julia, age 84, of Magnolia Lane, 1655 Elba Hwy., Troy, AL, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at her residence. Funeral ser-vices for Mrs. Anne Julia Adams will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim McQuitty offi-ciating. A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Mont-gomery, AL with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Mrs. Adams will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family requests memorials be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Troy or Covenant Chris-tian School Library Troy. Survivors include two sons, Hugh Douglas Adams, Jr., Highland Lake, AL and Charles Eugene Adams, Lawrence, KS; two daughters, Lynda Adams Taylor, Troy, AL and Gentry Adams Hassett, Troy, AL; nine grandchil-dren and seven great-grandchil-dren; two sisters, Hattie May Halse, Montgomery, AL and Dorothy L. Douglas, Savannah, GA. Mrs. Adams was a native of Montgom-ery, AL. A 1938 graduate of Hun-tingdon College and received a Masters Degree in history from the University of Alabama. She was an instructor at Alexander City Jr. Col-lege, an archivist at War College at Maxwell Air Force Base. She was a life long Biblical Scholar and Bible teacher, and taught numerous Bi-ble studies in Montgomery, Pine Le-vel and Troy. She was a wife and mother of 4 children. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Adams, Colvin Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Harri-son Taylor, Clifton Hassett and Steve Tyson. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Douglas Adams in 2000, and a brother, E. C. Lashley, Jr. and sister, Roberta L. Dobbs.
