Funeral services for Dr. Alfred Charles Williams, 70, Port Orange, FL will be 8:30 AM, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:00PM- 6:30PM with a tribute starting at 6:30PM, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church. Dr. Williams was born on June 7, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Al earned a Doctoral degree in Educational Administration from Columbia University in New York; a Master of Business Administration, from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. His Bachelor of Arts degree is from St. Mary's College in Minnesota. Al was a dedicated family man. He and his first wife, Willenor, were married and had two sons, Alan and Anthony. The family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in December 1978 where the family joined St. Paul's Catholic Church, now Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church, where Al remained a member until his death. Al's wife Willenor passed away in 1997. Some years later, Al met and married Dr. Katherine Smith. Al enthusiastically served the Children of Volusia County as a School Board Member from November 1984 to 1992 and again 2004 until his death. Throughout his life, Al was a proud member of numerous educational, civic and community organizations. On Monday, October 1, 2012, Dr. Alfred Charles Williams was called home by our Lord. Al was preceded in death by his son: Anthony in January of 2012. Al is survived by his wife, Dr. Katherine Williams; son: Alan (FeLicia); stepson: Jerrell (Beth) Smith; stepdaughter: Shevonn (Royce) Willis; six grandchildren and many other family members. Al was dearly loved and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to "Futures/Al & Anthony Williams Scholarship Fund, 3750 Olson Dr., Daytona Bch, FL 32124.
