February 8, 2006 Willie Mae Evans, 77, of Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Hahnville, LA. She was formerly employed by Home Aides of Central NY and was also a Fos-ter Grandparent. She was a member of People's AME Zion Church, where she founded the Junior Usher Board. Her husband, Eddie Lee Evans Sr., preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters: Judy, Brenda and Darlene (Julius); her sons: Joel (Helen), Brian (Diane), Byron (Maxine) and Anthony Massaro, all of Syracuse; one brother, Roosevelt Johnson; one sister, Mary C. Soniat, both of New Orleans, LA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at Hebrew Baptist Church, 1409 S. McBride St., Syracuse. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Services entrusted to Edwin L. Cole Funeral Home.
