SMITH, William D. "Bill," 83, died Friday, April 9, 2004 at his residence in Lake Park, Ga. after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines Air Corps. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta, Ga. and the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Mosley Smith and Drew E. Smith of Tampa, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Mabry Smith of Lake Park; a daughter and son-in- law, Dale and George Loyd of Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Drew and Kaye Smith Jr., and Steven Dennis and Leigh Smith, both of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Mabry Smith, Gini Smith, Matthew Smith, Steven Smith, William Smith III, and Lindsey Smith, all of Valdosta. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with a private family committal following the service.
