WAYNESBORO, Ga. - William Broadus Carter, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather passed away February 6, 2014. He was born November 14, 1925 in Stellaville, Georgia to the late J. Lee Carter Sr. and Sarah Johnson Carter. He was a United States World War II Army Veteran serving in the Army 99th Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge. Of all the medals he received he was most proud of his Army Infantry Badge. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in the McBean Community. Surviving are his wife Elaine Saxon Carter, his children, Frances Kathleen Ward and husband Donnie, William B. Carter, Jr. and wife, Barbara and Mose Edward Carter and wife Sharon; also surviving are, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson- Saxon-Prescott Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Lamar Holley and Reverend Mark Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Glenn Saxon, Wesley Saxon, Alan Saxon, Mike Thigpen, Al Nelson, Clifford Lewis and Bob Braithwaite. Flowers are accepted but memorial contributions may be made to Edmund Burke Academy, 403 Hwy 56 S Waynesboro, Ga. 30830 or the Piney Grove Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund.
