HENDERSON, Walter B., 88, of Melbourne, FL.,a retired Real Estate Broker, departed May 21, 2006. Mr. Henderson was born in Jackson, Miss., August 17, 1917. He was part of a lifelong pioneer family in Tampa, the owner/operator of Neptune Cottages of Indian Rocks Beach, near Clearwater, IRB City Commissioner for three terms, past president of the Kiwanis Club, IRB Civic Association and Holiday Isles Chamber of Commerce, member of the Clearwater Power Squadron and former member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. Mr. Henderson was a graduate of H. B. Plant High School and the University of Florida, class of 1940, and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord and his family. He also loved music and boating. He moved to Melbourne, in 1996, from Clearwater and was a member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. and Millie P. Henderson and his sister, Drucilla Henderson Van Dyke, all of Tampa. Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Henderson of Melbourne; daughters, Barbara (Mike) Gilbert of Melbourne and Cheryl (Gerald) Thurston of Lilburn, Ga; four grandchildren, Ronald and Richard Gilbert of Lawrenceville, Ga., Michele Tainter of Loganville, Ga. and Michael Thurston of Durham, N.C.; seven great-grandsons; a beloved niece, Melene (Bobby) McMannen of Winston Salem, N.C.; and nephews, Bill Van Dyke III of Tampa and Jesse Van Dyke of Tallahassee. A Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne.
