Virginia Smith, 87, formerly of Tuscumbia, Ala., died in Eustis, Fla., on Thursday, June 10, 2004. She attended Deshler High School and was a longtime member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals, Ala.Virginia's children were her life. After she raised her children, she returned to school and became an LPN. She retired from Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Branscomb Myhan and Tom Myhan; her brothers, Olin Myhan (wife, Ella Lee), Leslie Myhan (wife, Janice); and her son, Gerald L. Smith.She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Susan Smith (Gerald's wife); her son, Fred M. Smith Jr. (wife, Linda); her daughter, Dr. Brenda A. Smith. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Sherry Cannon (husband, Gerald) and Kristy Smith (husband, Steve); two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her caregivers, Barbara and Jerry Hurlburt.Graveside services were Monday, June 14, 2004, in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia, Ala.
