Virginia Katherine Williams, 61, Sarasota, died Oct. 14, 2006. She was born May 24, 1945, in St. Louis and came to Sarasota in 1969 from Wichita, Kan. She received a bachelor's degree in 1968 from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in education in 2001. She was an elementary school teacher for 23 years and had taught at Emma E. Booker Elementary School for the past 18 years. She was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church and Daughters of the King. Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Jerry; daughters Stephanie K. Gillespie of Falls Church, Va., and Rebecca E. O'Brien of Orlando; a son, James D. Barnett of Weston; a sister, Martha E. Avery of Fort Morgan, Colo.; brothers David W. Chard of Taiwan and Frederick H. Chard of Lafayette, Colo.; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, Sarasota, is in charge.
