PRENTISS, Valma 2009-11-25 Mrs. Valma Rose Prentiss age 89 years of Pioneer Ridge, passed away on November 20, 2009. She is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved husband of 49 years Omar. Valma has been patiently waiting for this day to join Omar, since his passing in 1997. She was predeceased by her sons Patrick (2003) and David (1980). She eagerly waited to be reunited with her sons also. There is a reunion party in heaven now. Hallelujah! Valma was the youngest of three children and born in New Lisgeard, Ontario on Feb 6, 1920. Sadly her mother died when she was 2 years old and the family was split up for many years. She was reunited with her sister Mae and brother Charles when she was a teenager. In 1948 she married a dashing soldier Omar and dedicated the rest of her life to raising and caring for her husband and 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Valma was a servant to everyone she met and an extraordinary hostess. She put everyone‘s needs before her own. We all benefited richly from her generous spirit. Mom loved to have fun, loved animals and children delighted her. She was beautiful knitter, wonderful cook and baker, liked to travel, enjoyed her home and garden and her church family at Kingston Gospel Temple. Valma resided in Kingston, Ontario for 50 years and loved the community. She became a resident of Rideaucrest Home and enjoyed several years there. In 2008 she moved to Thunder Bay to be with her daughter. She is greatly missed by her family. She is predeceased by her husband Omar, sons Patrick and David, her parents William and Mary Williams and siblings Mae and Charlie. Survived by her children: son Doug (Mary) Vernon B.C.; son Edward (Trisha) Langley B.C.; daughter Joy Thunder Bay On; daughter-in law Susan Held (Kevin) Kingston On.; grandchildren: Shelley ( Peter) Davyduck and their children Abigail and Cole; Jeffrey (Diana) Prentiss; Katherine Prentiss all of Langley B.C.; Cory Walters(Jackie) Thunder Bay On; Ryan Walters St. Catherine‘s On; Cindy (Ben) Greenlees, Gananoque On; Nick and Jessica Held, Kingston, On.
