NEW LONDON -- Thomas L. Duffin II, 81, of Hilltop Place, died Dec. 7, 2008, at home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Grace (deRuitter) and Thomas L. Duffin. He grew up in East Orange, N.J. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of Syracuse University. He was employed by the Providence Journal for 32 years as a advertising manager and had been a member of numerous professional advertising associations in New England. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New London. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Eleanor (Mackin) Duffin; four children, Susan Duffin of Stone Mountain, Ga., T. Bradley Duffin of Newburyport, Mass., Elizabeth Murphy of Topsfield, Mass., and Robert Duffin of Salem, Mass.; and five grandchildren. SERVICES: A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 724 Main St., New London. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London 03257. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London is assisting with arrangements.
