SHIRLEY (ANDERSON) BEAUCHAMP Shirley passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on January 13, 2003, just minutes after the end of her 70th birthday. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 50 years, Bill; her five children, Guy, Debra, William, Joy and Bob; her grandchildren, Liam, Erin, Thomas and Iain; her mother Evelyn; her siblings, Joyce, Karen and Bill and their families; and countless friends. Shirley was predeceased by her father Bert; and brother Clinton. Born in Pleasant Valley, SK, on January 12, 1933, she married Bill and they lived in Melfort and then Saskatoon, before making Winnipeg their home in 1961. Shirley was a prairie girl who loved nature and found great pleasure in the family cabin at Tannis Lake, ON. Shirley was a down to earth person, always putting great pride and care in all she did. She worked at Eaton's warehouse for many years and made many friends there. Her strong sense of community was evident in her volunteer activities, such as canvassing for a variety of charities, delivering for Meals on Wheels, CWL work at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, or more recently, her work at Christie House and with St. Mary's Academy. Shirley loved the simple pleasures of life: sunsets, paddling on the lake, watching the humming birds, growing flowers and remembering a friend's birthday. She loved painting and sewing and had great beauty and style. She had a strong work ethic and did everything with pride. Shirley was an accomplished curler and was lead on the team representing Manitoba at the 1986 Canadian Senior Curling Championship in Portage, where they won silver. Even while in hospital, Mom formed community and made many new friends. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16 at St. Ignatius Church, 252 Stafford St. at Corydon Avenue. A private interment to follow at St. Vital Cemetery. Many thanks to her doctor and coach, Dr. Lotocki, and the guardian angels working at 3B at St. Boniface Hospital.
