Adams EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Sara Stephens Adams, 86, of 644 Cornerstone Place, Evans, GA, formerly of Hartwell, GA, died Monday January 23, 2006 at Westwood Nursing Home, Evans, GA. Born December 30, 1919 in Sumter County, GA, she was the daughter of the John Edd Stephens and Lula Camilla Finch Stephens. She was a Honor Graduate of Anthony High School in Americus, GA, and had her Masters of Education from UGA. She was a retired School Teacher, where she taught for 39 years at: Centerville School in Elbert County GA, Thompson School in Americus GA, Hart County High School and Hart County Middle School. She was a member of Rehobath Baptist Church, Americus GA and a former member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Survivors include daughter, Sara Kathryn Long and her husband, Boyd of Evans, GA; brothers, Fox Stephens of Americus, GA and Sam Stephens of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, Boyd Long and Heather Avery and three great-grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Joe Winston Adams; daughter, Camilla Norris and brother, Tom Stephens. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. R. Allen Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home.
