LAVALLEE, Rose Marie - After a long illness, Rose Marie died peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Georgetown Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Rose Marie was born in Toronto, July 2, 1942. Daughter of the late Josephine and William Loucks. Beloved mother to Michael and his wife Andrea, Robert and his late wife Angela and Michelle Rae and her husband David. Beloved grandmother to Eric, Evan and Ellis; Corey, Crystyne and Jessica; Johnathan, David and Madeleine and 6 great-grandchildren. During her life, Rose Marie was an active member of her community serving on various boards and committees including the Rexdale Legal Aid Clinic and Ernestine's Women's Shelter, to which she was a founding member. She worked as a constituency assistant for a Member of Provincial Parliament and was active with the NDP for many years working tirelessly on many campaigns for her political friends. She worked passionately for many groups and charities and received many commendations for her service to her community. She will be remembered by her family and friends as an avid gardener, nature and animal lover. She was a thoughtful and caring woman who took the greatest pleasures in the simple things in life. She will be greatly missed, her illness took her from her family much too soon. Her children and grandchildren will remember the love she had for them always.
